Knitting for the Needy

Knitters who would like to produce warm socks, sweaters, vests, mittens, and hats for children and adults who need them  -  join us!

We are a group of knitters who create warm, woolen garments for children and adults who live in cold environments and who have little access to resources. Our mission is to provide the neediest people with woolen socks, sweaters, vests, mittens, and hats.

We donate to organizations whose mission is compatible with ours.
We are not affiliated with any church or other organization.

We are meeting in Storrs on Thursday evenings anytime between 6.00 PM – 9.00 PM but there is no obligation to participate every week. All levels are welcome, we share our knowledge and skills. For further information please contact Heike, the interest group coordinator.

We also encourage yarn donations. If you have yarn leftovers to donate or if you know someone who would like to do so, please contact Heike. As we focus on kids and adults living in extremely cold climates the dominant part of the donated fiber should be wool. Wool is warm and stays warm even when it is wet.
